Tallahasesee independence landing receives a new CEO and project for landscaping – WFSU News

The landing of Talahasi’s independence, a community for people with disabilities, has a new CEO. She begins her new work by asking community members for landscaping this Saturday, February 15th.

Barbie Moro said the proposal to work on the board of directors of Independence Directors came as a surprise.

“I talked to my family about it and we decided,” Yes! “In many ways, this is a dream come true.”

Moro was staff as director of operations and programs. Now, as CEO, she will jump right by asking the community for helping to plant about 50 trees and shrubs in the property this Saturday from 9am until noon.

“This is a major community initiative and we invite people to come up with rain or shine and help us put trees in these holes. We will drink snacks and drinks from Red Eye coffee and the independence landing bakery.”

Project partners include sustainable Talahassi, local nurseries, Havana Nursery and Allpro landscaping.
