Sylvamo to invest $ 145 million in facilities in South Carolina – Yahoo Finance

Eastover, SC, February 13, 2025-(Business Wire) -sylvamo (NYSE: SLVM), the world paper company proudly announces major investments in its two facilities in South Carolina.

The company plans to invest approximately $ 145 million in high -return projects to reduce costs and significantly improve opportunities in its Eastover mill, South Carolina. Investments come on the heels of the 40th of the mill^th Anniversary.

• Sylvamo will invest approximately $ 100 million to speed up one of its paper machines by the end of 2026, upgrading it to the same world -class level as the other mill machine. The investment will allow the machine to produce approximately 60,000 additional short tons of free of charge a year.

• The company will also invest approximately $ 45 million for a new replacement Shiter in its Sumter, South Carolina, Lithing Plant. The modern cut shiter, which converts large rolls of paper from the mill into sheets, will reduce costs and add flexibility to customer service when online until the end of 2026.

Sylvamo also enters a 20-year partnership to assign its Woodyard Eastover operations. Modernization will allow for more efficient, reliable, cost-effective woodworking and additional flexibility. It will also allow the company to avoid approximately $ 75 million in capital costs over the next five years.

The company will host an event in the mill with team members, community partners and selected employees in the coming months to celebrate investments.

The fully integrated Sylvamo Eastover mill is one of the most advanced paper mills in the world and the largest, the largest manufacturer at the price of without coverage in North America.

The mill produces over 90% of its energy inside. It employs more than 800 people and are responsible for creating more than 5,000 related jobs locally. The mill is located 30 miles east of Colombia, South Carolina, Richland County on the Watre River and 20 minutes from Congari National Park.

The Eastover leaf operation is located about 30 miles from the Super Mill, South Carolina and employs more than 100 people.

The facilities produce Hammermill®, HP Home & Office and Williamsburg Printer Paper marks, as well as documents that turn into envelopes, folders, forms and notes.
