Riga – The Swedish prosecutors announced on Sunday night that they had discovered a preliminary investigation by a suspect of a aggravated “sabotage” and ordered the detention of a ship in the Baltic Sea, suspected of damaging the optical cable of underwater fibers.

“Several authorities, including the National Police Operations Department, Coast Guard and Armed Forces, are involved in the investigation,” said Mats Lungquist, Senior Prosecutor in the National Security Division, “press reports said.

Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silica wrote to X that her government “worked with our Swedish allies and NATO to investigate the incident, including patrolling the area, as well as for inspecting ships that were in the area.”

It is believed that Swedish Prime Minister Wolf Cristerson wrote that at least one cable belonging to the Latvian entity was damaged and was “in close contact” with Silia during the day on Sunday.

Sunday’s variants follow a series of incidents that have strengthened fears of Russian sabotage and spying in the strategic region. Previous incidents have been reported on ruptures of data cables operating on the Baltic Sea, allegedly related to the fleet of shadows in Russia – hundreds of aging tankers of uncertain property that avoid sanctions and maintain oil revenue to enter the country.
