Charges have been filed and a suspect is being sought in the overnight killing of a 44-year-old man in Bessemer.
Khalil Judkins, 20, is accused of killing Tavares Deon Moore Thursday night.
The shooting happened at 8:56 p.m. in the 2900 block of Ninth Avenue North.
Moore was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he was pronounced dead at 9:40 p.m.
Bessemer police Det. Justin Burmeister said Moore was shot several times but was able to talk briefly with officers before he died.
Investigators on Friday obtained the warrant for Judkins’ murder and are actively searching for him.
Burmeister said a motive has not yet been determined.
Moore is Bessemer’s 11th homicide this year.
In all of Jefferson County, there have been 166 homicides, including the 11 in Bessemer.
