Suspect members of the Tren de Aragua band Venezwell

Tallahassee, FL – federal and state law enforcement agencies detained persons who are believed to be members of the Venezuelan band Tren de Aragua in Talahasi on Monday.

The Florida and Motor Highway Safety Department has announced that the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), in collaboration with US immigration and customs application (ICE) and internal security investigations (HSI), conducted double operations in Talahassi, leading leading to the arrests.

The suspects were detained on charges of smuggling weapons, belonging to a criminal gang, unfulfilled orders and illegal entry into the United States.

On Twitter, the Florida Highway Safety Department has declared arrests, writing “This morning FHP and our federal partners @HSI_HQ and @icegov have completed double operations in Talahassi, holding suspect members of Tren de Aru on suspicion of smuggling weapons, conspiracy for criminal gangs, orders and illegal entry into the US”

Tren de Aragua, translating Aragua Train, is descended from a Venezuelan prison and expanded its influence in Central and South America, including countries such as Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru.

The gang is reported to have been involved in various criminal activities such as killings, drug trafficking and people, sexual crimes and blackmail.

Recently, the US Department of Ministry of Ministry of Finance for Control of Foreign Assets has identified Tren de Aragua as a transnational criminal organization, imposing sanctions on violating its operations.

The arrests on Monday emphasize the current efforts of law enforcement authorities in the United States.

Authorities continue to investigate the degree of gang’s activities and belongings in the region.
