Surveillance footage captured an armed robbery at La Princesa in Winston-Salem – WXLV

The owners of La Princesa are pretty shaken up and out $600 after a robbery last night.

“The man came out running and they were shocked to see him running and asked him what was going on? and he just said he was a thief,” said Eloisa Ramirez, co-owner of La Princesa.

Eloisa Ramirez and her husband, Juan Sanchez, sell Latin American delicacies as well as ice cream at La Princesa, which has been in business for 24 years.

At approximately 7:00 p.m., officers from the Winston-Salem Police Department responded to an armed robbery at the business located at 11 East Clemmonsville Road.

“Give me the money, give me the money, come here now,” said the suspect, who could be heard on surveillance footage.

Ramirez was on her way to the store when her three employees told her a masked man entered the store with a knife. She said business owners down the strip saw the suspect outside the store for a while.

“Then he waited as we had customers; all my customers to leave. When there was only one of the customers left, then he came in and assaulted the customer first,” Ramirez said.

Ramirez then said the customer ran out the back door and the suspect went to the cash register and took all the money. The dash cam then shows him exiting through the back door.

“Surprised? Not because it’s the third time it’s happened, but in 24 years, and I never expected it to happen again.

Officials said no one was injured and the suspect was last seen fleeing the business on foot toward Cassel Street.

“Now I’m worried that this is happening again or more often and that people, my customers, are a little scared to come to my business. That is my concern.
