Scotsdale, AZ (Azfamily) – The voters of Scottsdale will be given the chance to vote for the proposed development of the corporate housing after sufficient signatures have been collected to ask the ballot question.
The Maricopa County Record Office said that sufficiently valid signatures had been sent to add the problem to the city vote in November 2026.
Axon, the company that makes Tasers and police cameras, has recently stopped its proposed new plant and a residential project in North Scotsdale, but said it remains engaged in the community.
The Scotsdale City Council approved the proposal in November, but efforts to stop development led the company to cancel the multimillion -dollar project just two days before it was planned to break up.
The choice is now left to the voters.
Taxpayers against terrible apartment zoning (Taaaze) have led to efforts to oppose the development of 1875 units.
“Given the negative impacts this giant apartment complex can provide on Scottsdale, a public vote is clearly needed,” said Taaaze chairman and former City Councilor of Scottsdale Bob Littlefield. “Taaaze has no problem with Axon’s pre -approved plans for a new corporate headquarters. We are against the company’s attempts for a billion dollars to change the rules so that it can make millions in a project for apartments that is too dense, too tall, and one that would create too much traffic and strain public safety resources. “
The Tis said the Scottsdale Firefighters Association said the project would be negative for public safety due to the placement of so many residents in a concentrated area.
Littlefield said he was confident that voters would reject the proposal.
