Reno, Nev. (Kolo) Students are still struggling in academics after more than two years since the Covid-19 pandemic has forced schools to close their doors for personal education.
“They are disappointed with academics. They are trying to catch up, “says Rehel Murilo, director of the Washo School District Department.
According to data from the Nations Report:
“The division between students with higher and lower efficiency has increased than ever. Students with the highest results were superior to their peers two years ago, making up some land lost during the pandemic. But the largest performers note even more low, lagging back.
“If the student is not there to study, then it is so difficult to catch up with what they missed,” says primary education director Jenny Anderson.
At the end of the tunnel there is light: students in Washo County see a gradual increase in their test results. Teachers want to keep the ball roll and encourage parents to have children in extracurricular activities and remind students that the school should be fun.
“We are trying to make students pursue athletics and other really funny extracurricular activities. So, we just want to remind the students that there are things for a school that is fun, “says Murilo.
And we are reminded that school is not the only place to learn.
“Recipes are such a great way to engage your children directly. Make them cook with you and look at what the recipe says and talk about factions and talk about how you convert this. You know, drive to a stop sign and look, well, this is a red braking sign. Take a look at the four letters that are in it, “says Aerson.
WCSD also started using new material for mathematics and reading to help their educational purposes, as well as apply the I-finished application.
