SAN ANGELO, Texas (October 26, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University had its five-game winning streak snapped on Saturday at the Junell Center as No.15 Angelo State defeated the Lady Chaps in three sets 3-0 (20-25, 20-25, 13 – 25) in Lone Star Conference play.
The loss dropped Lubbock Christian’s record to 11-9 overall and 7-3 in LSC action. While the Lady Chaps snapped their winning streak, the Belles (19-2, 9-1) extended their winning streak to seven games with the win.
Peyton Murray finished with 12 kills on the day to lead the Lady Chaps attack. Defensively, LCU had three players reach double figures in digs: Lady Rae Gwynn led with 16, followed by Abby Benitez and Caiton Genenbachereach contributing 12.

» Lubbock Christian had three players in double figures in odds as they finished with 61 odds, which was a season high for a three-set match.
» LCU had a season-low in aces with two serves during the match.
» Peyton Murray had a team-high 12 kills for Lubbock Christian. She was the only Lady Chap in double figures in kills and has produced at least 10 kills in eight of the last nine matches. » Lubbock Christian’s forwards were aided by a team-high 29 assists Caiton Genenbacher. She also added 12 hits to complete her 10th double-double of the season and 34th of her career.

» The Lady Chaps are 0-2 this season in games against nationally ranked programs.
» The win marked ASU’s ninth straight in the head-to-head series and they have a 26-9 all-time lead. The Whites improved to 14-5 all-time against LCU in San Angelo.
» The Whites were led by Evelyn Torres and Maddie Parrish, who each had 12 kills. Adeline Ortman had a double-double with 33 assists and 14 steals.
How it happened
SET 1 | The Lady Chaps found themselves in an early deficit, losing the first set 25-20. Angelo State never relinquished the lead in a set that was tied three times (most recently at 17-17) before the Bells closed out the set with an 8-3 scoring spurt. Murray led LCU with six kills in the set as LCU had 17 kills in the set despite falling in the set.
SET 2 | Lubbock Christian then dropped the second set 25-20 to fall behind in the match two sets to nil. They trailed 15-9 before storming back 4-0 and trailed 20-18 before the Belles won the set 25-20. Briley Schweer led LCU with five kills in the set.
SET 3 | Angelo State completed the sweep with a three-set victory. The Lady Chaps fell in a tough set 25-13. ASU closed out the set with a 10-3 run, including a 5-0 run to close out the match. LCU was held to seven kills in the set as they committed 12 attacking errors.
