Staying warmer for the weekend – WiBw

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Warmer temperatures were found Friday afternoon and it looks like they will stick around for the rest of the month.

Highs for Friday rebounded into the upper 30s to lower 40s, as plenty of sunshine helped continue to melt snow across the region. The next few days should maintain this, gradually warming up over the next week.

Lows for Friday night should be down in the upper teens to lower 20s, seasonal for late January. We’ll see highs return to around 40 for Saturday afternoon, although cloud cover will increase. Sunday will have slightly cooler highs, but still likely at or just above the freezing mark.

Starting Monday, temperatures should begin to stay in the mid to upper 40s, with mostly sunny days in the forecast. That should eliminate any remaining snow on the ground in non-Kansas, with at least three straight days of above-average temperatures.

By Thursday/Friday we will see a storm system approach western Kansas. This will likely bring snow to that area, but temperatures should be warm enough in Ne Kansas to produce just rain. We’ll have updates as we head into next week.
