Captain in Louisiana State Police has been arrested after DWI crash outside of duty with a police cruiser

Lieutenant of Trooper Jared L. Sandifer said that shortly after 3:30 Tuesday morning, soldiers from Louisiana’s state police responded to a three -vehicle crash in Baton Rouge. The crash became like 53-year-old Belinda Murphy, captain of the Louisiana State Police, who ruled south of Chevrolet Tahoe south of Plank Road.

Sandifer said that a fully marked Baton Rouge police department, Dodge Chager and Toyota Prius, make a left turn from Harding Boulevard to continue south on Planck’s path when the incident happened.

“For reasons that have still been investigated, Murphy ignored the red light at the intersection, resulting in Taho hit the charger, which then collided with Prius,” Sandifer said.

Murphy was transported to a local hospital with other drivers to treat light skills. After contact with the investigation of soldiers, Murphy showed signs of impairment and voluntarily filed an excerpt of toxicology, the results of which were in anticipation.

As a result of the investigation, it was arrested and booked at the parish prison in East Baton Rouge on charges of operating a vehicle while it was violated, the first crime; two issues of vehicle careless injury; and traffic control signals.

Murphy has been hired in the Louisiana State Police since 2001 and has been appointed to the Louisiana State Police Investigation Unit. Murphy has been released on administrative leave with all law enforcement property, restored in anticipation of the end of criminal and administrative investigations.
