Stage Adaptation of Coralin, scrapped after Neil Gaiman’s allegations – Irvine Times

The 64-year-old Gaiman denied the allegations and stated that “he had never participated in an inconsistent sexual activity with anyone. Ever. “

Co-production partners, Leeds Playhouse, Royal Lyceum Theater Edinburgh, Birmingham Repertory Theater and Home Manchester, said in a joint statement: “We decided on our production of Coraline-Musical will not continue.

“After careful consideration, we believe that it would be impossible to continue in the context of the allegations against his original author.

Coralin is a children’s novel by Dark Fantasy, who tells the story of a young girl who unlocks the neck in a different and unusual world.

Hollywood actress Dakota Fanning and comedians Zora French and Jennifer Sonders were among the stars who give their voice to a movie adaptation in 2009.

The musical was due to be placed on Leeds Playhouse from April 11 to May 11 before touring Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh.

In a blog publication, earlier this month, the author said he had read the allegations with “horror and horror” after allegations by eight women against the writer in an article published by New York magazine.

The allegations were publicly available in July 2024, when a series of Tortoise Media’s podcast reported allegations of sexual assault against Gaiman by five women.

After the claims for the first time, several film and television adaptations were affected by the Gaiman stories, including the third Omens season, which he jointly wrote with Terry Pratchett, and a movie from The Graveyard Book.

On Saturday, Dark Horse Comics, a Gaiman graphic novels and comics, said his job was no longer coming out.

“Confirming that the Anansi Boys comic books and the volume collected were canceled,” a company said.

In January 2023, a police report was made in New Zealand, blaming a sexual assault.

Later, the investigation had dropped.
