“There’s no wrong way to eat a Reese’s cookie… by Matherne Market. The cookies have come to life recently, with long lines snaking around town for fancy, frosted versions. But the humble, crumbly grocery genre will forever remain in my heart. The flavors change, but I always keep an eye out for the ones flavored with silky peanut butter cups.

Mary B’s Biscuits
“Pillsbury has nothing on this Southern born brand. Mary B’s has long been my go-to when I’m craving a soft, buttery biscuit, but the budget calls for food at home. I find them on Ruse market, Calandro supermarket and even Walmart.”

Louisiana crab tails
“When I’m in the mood to make etouffee or hot crab dip for the holidays, I stop by Calandro supermarket in Mid City for a package or two of crab tails. Usually kept on ice in a container near the seafood market, the tenderloins are always from regional suppliers. No imported crabs for me, thanks.”

BLDG 5 Lemonade
“BLDG 5 makes the rounds of neighborhood lemonade stands with its craft brews, available in sweet, tart and slightly spicy flavors like Ginger, Blueberry, Rosemary, Mango, Strawberry Basil, Peach, Pineapple, Mint and Pear and Jalapeño Basil. They are great for sipping straight from the bottle or using for mixers in cocktails and cocktails. I usually get these local lemonades from Calvin’s Bocage Market, Maxwell’s Market, Bin Q alcohol or Ruse market.”
