The senior Brace Bordes and Jr. Mark Jones scored twice after six-seeded wolves diverted to the victory of the first round of Division I of Division I over 27th Bonabel at Hunter Stadium on Saturday.

The victory continued the hot series of the county 6-I champion, as the wolves (15-5-2) have already won eight straight matches with a combined score of 46-1.

After a relatively quiet first 20 minutes, Bonabel’s defense could not cope with a ball on their territory, and Senior Liam Danels-Smith of St. Paul took advantage. He turned this free ball into a chance one with the goalkeeper and finished it for the first goal.

Seven minutes later, Bords unleashed a 30 yard blast to the upper corner of the net to give St. Paul’s 2-0 lead.

“I saw him give up, so I decided I could have a blow,” Bords said. “I had a place to look up and I just took it with my left (leg). It was a good victory. I think we play the best we have throughout the season. We heat in the playoffs so we are ready for anyone who We play after that.

St. Paul Sean Moser’s coach said his team was able to upgrade this momentum in the second half.

“We created a lot of chances early, but nothing was dangerous until we got the purpose of the breaks,” Moser said. “The second half was a little better when we looked a little. We looked more like ourselves and I think we were able to dress them in the second half.”

The wolves left the match in the 59th minute when Senior Grayson Vogt played a perfect ball that brought Bordes to the penalty area, as he finished the chance one in one for a 3-0 lead.

Jones scored in the 65th and 77th minutes while senior Holger Padila-Avils added a goal in the 76th minute to go with his two assists.

“The energy from the first half continued us,” Jones said. “We just wanted to get more. We wanted to keep this momentum and we did it. We feel we play our best football and we can beat anyone.”

Bruins (10-4-2) opened things a little in the second half and generated some chances, but no one found the back of the net.

Bonabel Marvin Buendia’s first year coach said his team was fighting, but St. Paul’s early goals were too much to overcome.

“We had a gamer, but it didn’t work out the way we wanted,” Buendia said. “St. Paul is a great team and they took advantage of our mistakes. I think we are a very good team, but since we had a small amount 20 and we will work to get there next season.

The wolves will play either the 11th Barbe or the 22nd Alexandria in the second round.
