St. Paul’s employees were justified in the shooting of a suspect for murder in Lowerun, says the District Attorney – Star Tribune

Scott County lawyer Ron Hochevar said St. Paul’s police were justified when she was fatally shot dead for murder during his arrest last year.

Hochevar announced his decision on Saturday, stating that St. Paul’s officers had acted wisely to protect themselves from harm when they shot Shintrell Taiire Murdoch in September in front of a home where he stayed in Bell Plain.

“While premature loss of life is always a tragedy, in this situation the officers acted reasonably and responsibly,” Hochevar says in a news message.

Hochevar said officers tried “arrest Mr. Murdoch for murder in the style of an unarmed St. Paul civilian civilian in the previous day”, but that Murdoch’s actions “far exceeded” resistance to arrest “and rose to the level of presentation clear and the present danger to arrest officials. “

Authorities used surveillance footage to identify Murdoch like the man who shot 66-year-old artist Carrie Kvok in the St. Laurtown neighborhood. Quoc painted a mural in the parking lot of his building when, according to police, Murdoch approached it and shot it from behind.

Kwok, who had two children and four grandchildren, only moved to the cooperative of Lawurun Lofts artist. Her death shook neighbors, who gathered days after the murder to mourn her and support her. Police chief Axel Henry called the murder that police said was accidental, “one of the coldest things I’ve seen in my life.”

Employees tracked Murdoch to Bell Plain within a day of the September 25 shooting, bypassing him in front of a home in 100 block on Meridian Street. The body of the body chamber shows that employees are approaching it and screaming “He has a gun!” Before the shots ring. The footage shows a gun near Murdoch as they mark themselves with handcuffs and arrest him.

“Why shot me?” Murdoch asked. “Since you had a gun in your hand, a dude,” an officer replied.
