Western Virginia was hit by snow on Wednesday, February 19, before the winter storm that was expected to hit in the middle of the Atlantic region on Wednesday night at the beginning of Thursday.
Shots made by Michael Gibson show a thick snow falling in Abingdon, Virginia, on Wednesday morning.
The National Meteorological Service (NWS) put Eastern Tennessee and Southwest Virginia under the Winter Council for 1 to 10 am on Thursday, February 20, and warned that the roads would be slippery.
