North Charleston, SC (WCIV) – The House of South Carolina Representatives issued a historical proclamation on Friday, honoring Luis Smith about his life and achievements.
Smith, who is the CEO of the Community Resources Center, is recognized as an effort to connect residents with resources aimed at reducing the rate of poverty, fighting hunger and providing services to young people and their families.

Local leaders and Smith’s family spoke of its significant impact on the community. Reporter Wendel Gilliard, Democrat from Charleston County, praised Smith’s visionary leadership.
“When I came in 2013, when he first started, he is a visionary,” Giliard said. “He has open ears and minds, and his hand is on the pulse of the community when it comes to the least of them. And he knew little then that his efforts would become so invaluable.”
Smith opened the first community resource center in 2013 and now there are places in the low side.
