No. 6 South Carolina goes on the road against Vanderbilt on Sunday. Find out how to watch and what to watch.
1. Stay focused and engaged
It took about a quarter to allow South Carolina to reach a step against Arkansas, but after it happened, there was no stop for Gamecocks.
Arkansas is probably not good enough to take advantage, even when South Carolina went to a slow start, but Vanderbilt could be. It would be nice if South Carolina comes out, but while Gamecocks quickly settles in stride, they should be fine.
What is their leg? Protection, winning the transition and sharing the ball for insult.
“We are focused,” said Dawn Staley. “We are not perfect, but we are focused. When we have the level of focus we have, we will be disciplined on both sides of the basketball and play more clean basketball. So it is easy for everyone to see both sides of the ball. ”
2. Put the brakes brakes
South Carolina’s defense will be tested by Vanderbilt’s star freshman Michael Blax, who has scored more than 50 points twice this season.
Blax has an unusually well -rounded offensive game for a freshman. It can reach the rim, hit the middle range and shoot three. Blax is a volume shooter, but she’s not just Chucker. It average 23.4 points and reaches a total of 46.4% and 33.7% of three. Blax also hits 88.5% of his free throws.
“It’s hard to stop when you have the most green lights,” Staley said. – You’re not afraid. You have no fear of missed staff. You have no fear of turning the ball. So it’s hard when you run against such a player. He just has to make it difficult. You need to control what you can control. You can control whether or not contaminating it; You can control whether you give it a clean look. These are the things we can control, and we are just trying to make it play inefficient basketball. ”
Blax also grabs 3.4 rebounds and 3,1 assists. If there is a weakness in her game, this is a turnover. Blax is an average of over three rpm and has approximately the same number of rpm (82) as assists (83) this season.

3. Time Dauda?
The transfer to Arkansas Mariam Dauda had one of his best matches for the season against his former team. Dauda had nine points and eight fights in 14 minutes. It was her second best rating of the season and tied her season for fighting.
Staley said after the match on Thursday that she thinks Dauda looks calm for the first time this season. He reappeared when the team watched the movie on Friday morning.
“We watched him, today we gave her her flowers in the movie and I hope she feels it and wants to bottle it and show it again,” Staley said. “Because I think she is stretching the floor like no other player in our team. It recovers sequentially. She does it when she was in the game. And she defends. So, we hope that we will be able to put it in a position where it can help us. ”
Dauda was a non -Factor in the SEC game. In 12 previous appearances, she amounts to only 11 points and 12 rebounds. She achieved more field goals (three) against Arkansas than during the rest of the season (two).
South Carolina has a sharp need for more depth after post. Dauda does not need to produce almost double-spirit to be effective. If Staley can trust her to play for 10 minutes, this would be a huge addition in the post -season.
4. Availability Report
Ashlin Watkins is for South Carolina.
Vanderbilt’s Sacha Washington is for the season due to a blood clot in the leg.
If other players are added to the availability report, this section will be updated.
5. Scouting Commodors
Blakes were so good this season that she overshadowed Hamil Pierre, who is a few struggles, shy of an average of 20-10 double-double. Pierre an average of 20.8 points and 9.7 rebounds plus 2.9 thefts.
Pierre set the record for scoring Vanderbilt with 42 points at the beginning of the season, just to see Blex fall past this brand (twice).
Vanderbilt’s weakness is at the protective end. Pierre is only 6-2, which leaves it with insufficient against the most vital attackers. Blax is 5-8 and Vanderbilt is on the small side throughout the list.
Commodores have a habit of giving up many points, including 101 of SOONERS on Thursday and 87 and 76 in a pair of matches against offensive Ole Miss.
When they were successful against the ranked teams, they were able to keep the result low. Vanderbilt beat then-15th ranked Tennessee 71-70 and then 19th ranked Alabama 66-64.
South Carolina does not want to go into a shooting with Vanderbilt because Blax is more than capable of winning this type of game. But South Carolina still wants to make sure that the result is not stuck in the 60s.
