South Carolina rankings updated in college football polls after upset win against Texas A&M – Greenville News

COLUMBIA — After its upset win against No. 16 Texas A&M, South Carolina football received votes in the LBM American Coaches Poll released Sunday.

The Gamecocks (5-3, 3-3 SEC) earned 33 votes. They picked up their first conference home win of the season on Saturday to win their second game in a row. They look to win their third straight game Saturday (4:15 p.m. ET, SEC Network) against No. 25 Vanderbilt (6-3, 3-2) at FirstBank Stadium.

South Carolina sits behind the following SEC teams in the Top 25: No. 2 Georgia, No. 5 Texas, No. 6 Tennessee, No. 11 Alabama, No. 13 LSU, No. 12 Ole Miss, No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 22 Missouri and No. 25 Vanderbilt.

Oregon remained atop the poll, earning 1,349 points and 53 first-place votes, and Georgia remained in second place with 1,267 points and one first-place vote.

The weekly poll is voted on by a panel of randomly selected coaches. Voters submit a top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, a second-place vote worth 24 and so on down to one point for the 25th, according to USA TODAY Sports.
