South Carolina is holding a rally in Tennessee for her fifth consecutive victory over a ranked team. Here’s what stood out from the game.
-On Sunday, dawn Staley predicts that there will be a period of feeling, as both teams have understood what adjustments to do, followed by running. There is a reason to pay her big dollars.
South Carolina fell behind 14-5 and then turned a switch, continuing 26-6 rates for the next 10 minutes. Although they missed eight of their first ten shots, Gamecocks eventually fired 15-30 in the first half.
I thought the biggest correction of South Carolina made a recovery. Tennessee was plus five in the first quarter, and then minus three in the second.
Gamecocks realized that you can’t just box and wait for a jump against Lady Vols. All these jumpers in long ones mean long struggles and strange angles. All five players have to run to the ball. Gamecocks did this and it was one of the keys to the game turning.
– Madi McDaniel was a huge part of how South Carolina turned the game in the first half. She entered the game and made a quick turnover. Then, on her next two possessions, McDaniel broke the press to adjust an easy arrangement, and then gained theft that she took another way to arrange. It was the decisive part of the 8-0 running, which deleted Tennessee’s lead for the first quarter.

McDaniel finished with six points, an assist and two turnover. It was not a perfect game in any way, and Staley did not trust McDaniel enough to play it in the fourth quarter, but it was a big step in the right direction for a player who barely saw the court as he received a concussion.
“I thought she gave us what she could,” Staley said. “It’s a difficult game to play as a young player. I thought she was dealing with certain parts of it really well and then you become prey to think that you can drill through this type of pressure. “
“Another time, she just played quickly, where she couldn’t create other options,” Staley continued, explaining why McDaniel was not playing anymore.
– Milania was a damage to the court as usual. She made threes in the second quarter to give South Carolina the first lead of the game and ended with 11 points. That was good chaos. Bad chaos was everything else.
Fulvili had four fouls and two rpm in just 10 minutes. The worse is that she shot Tennessee back into the game, taking (and missed) quick, unscrupulous threesomes in the fourth quarter.
Staley did not specify Fulvili by name, but it was clear who she meant when she said: “We took bad pictures. I think we could get a little better, but we didn’t. “
As recently admitted, Staley recently, a “submission” with Fulvili. You have to give her the freedom to create. But then it goes too far and it becomes a problem.
