South Carolina played well in November under Shane Beamer. The Gamecocks will look to continue that in Nashville.
Beamer recently talked about why his teams have been playing so well since the calendar turned to November.
“I’d say we don’t turn the ball over, but we threw six first-down picks against Clemson [in 2023]. I think it was a November game, so we didn’t do a great job with it,” Beamer joked. “I don’t know if it’s something in particular that I’m looking at, that’s a great question. I think the bigger thing for us is that it just goes back to taking pride in being a team that gets better as the year goes on, and we always have been.”
Beamer then explained his message to his team about continued growth throughout the year.
“It’s important for me as a coach and every year I tell the players that it would be a shame if we are the same team in September as we are in November, as if we have to keep improving,” Beamer explained. “And I think a lot of that goes back to the way we train, the way we train in the weight room during the season.
“We’re trying to get stronger and we’re working to get better in practice as well. Yes, it’s preparation for an opponent, but we don’t do a ton of scouting teamwork during practice. We do a lot of good things against each other and we work against each other in practice and we work a lot with our young guys on Sunday nights after practice to continue to push them forward.”
