Small San Bernardino Mountain Fire contained to 34 acres – San Bernardino County Sun

One person was arrested after a plant fire broke out Wednesday, Jan. 15, in San Bernardino.

Crews responded around 2 p.m. at Little Mountain Drive and West Edgehill Road, where the Little Mountain Fire was burning about 30 acres about 2:45 p.m., said Eric Sherwin, San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesman. Around 3:30 p.m. progress has been halted with the fire at about 34 acres, authorities said.

The fire broke out near the intersection of highways 210 and 215 and Shandin Hills Golf Club and Blair Park.

In a statement, San Bernardino police said officers responded to the fire and after an investigation, a man was arrested on two felony charges, including reckless burning.

Police did not immediately describe the arson in which the man was allegedly involved. They also did not reveal the other charge he is facing or identify him.

There are no reports of casualties or material damage in the fire.

The fire broke out amid red flag warnings for the Southern California area until 6 p.m. Wednesday. With winds between 20 and 30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph, as well as low humidity, conditions will allow any fires that do ignite to spread quickly.

Firefighters battled the San Bernardino fire as wildfires continued to rage in the area, including the Palisades and Eaton fires in Los Angeles County.
