Slippery roads cited as cause of southwest 18-wheeler crash, SAPD says – KSAT San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – An 18-wheeler may have slid off the freeway due to wet road conditions in the Southwest, according to San Antonio police.

The crash happened Tuesday around 6:15 a.m. in the 9800 block of IH 35 South near the New Laredo Expressway.

Police said the cab of the truck, which came loose from the trailer, broke through the metal guardrail and fell onto the northbound exit lanes below.

The trailer remained on the upper level of the highway.

A preliminary SAPD report said the truck driver was transported to a hospital with minor injuries

As of 9 a.m., crews were still working to clear the scene. Interstate 35 South and the northbound exit remain closed. Traffic is being diverted from the highway, police said.
