RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) — The Raleigh Police Department is investigating shots fired at the Crabtree Valley Mall.
A man has been detained. His involvement in this case remains part of the investigation.
Another suspect drove off in a vehicle, struck another vehicle and continued. There were no injuries related to the crash.
Police say the shots were fired on the first floor of the parking garage on the Creedmoor Road side of the mall.
ABC11 spoke with someone who works at the mall and said they heard multiple gunshots.
“First we heard gunfire. It sounded like about six to seven shots from a machine gun. I told everyone to get away from the windows, I went out into the street, I looked, we heard two more shots. We got off, went back inside. Then we heard no police sirens or anything yet, so we grabbed our ARs and came out here and we’re ready to go to war,” Kenneth Tyerman said.
Police did not confirm how many shots were fired, but no one was injured.
The mall is still open, but they are asking people to just avoid the entrance where the investigation is taking place.
