Mee Morgan scored three goals against the best defense on Saturday 2, as Scottel Rep dropped Scottsdale Christian, 5-3 in the 2A state title in Mountain Pointe.
This is the first football championship in the School History of Scottsdale Prep, while Scottsdale Christian has fallen into the title game for the second time in five years.
“These girls deserve all the merit in the world,” said Scottsdale coach Denise Nikoli then.
“They came out and understood this. We knew what great defense Scotsdale had Christian, but they just continued to attack and fight. We knew we would get some opportunities to note and what I could say about Maeve? She came out huge today.”
Morgan scored seven minutes in the first half and added two more goals in the second half. Her third goal gave the Spartans a 5-1 lead in 13 minutes in the game before Scottsdale Christian scored twice to make the last five minutes interesting.
“We knew they had good protection,” Morgan told Scottsdale Christian, who had only allowed seven goals throughout the season. “We knew this would be a challenge, but we trusted the work we put. We just went to them without regret.”
After the 3rd goal of the Maeva Morgan match, he gave a lead to Scottsdale Prep 5-1. Scottsdale Christian’s Nola Bynum as a result of this penalty blow, which makes 5-2 Spartans with 10:30 left in the game and season. Pic.twitter.com/h5y9ysp5ac
