A hotel in the Old Town of Scotsdale will open early next year, followed by about two years later by an apartment project that includes a historic building.
The hotel, which will be AC from Marriott, began construction in the beginning of 2024 in place near Scottsdale and Indian school roads. The hotel will include 168 rooms and is planned to finish construction in February 2026, said Peg Companies leaders, hotel developer and OKLAND CONSTRUCTION, the general contractor.
The project included the demolition of former Motel Howard Johnson, who was on the site. Construction also requires the relocation and burying of above ground Powerlines, said Brian Lelen, General Chief of Auckland.
PEG bought the site, which amounts to about three acres, in 2021 for about $ 27.5 million, according to VIZZDA real estate database.
The hotel will include a restaurant on the ground floor, which will probably be in a tapas style with sharing signs, said Gareth Bjorkman, Co-CEO of PEG, adding that the leasing for the restaurant space has not yet been finalized. The restaurant will face Third Avenue, with indoor and outdoor sitting options. The development will also include a public art installation and a pedestrian playground on the third avenue adjacent to the hotel.
“The old town, with the investment in Fashion Square” Scottsdale “and the entertainment neighborhood, made the market a special focus for us,” Bjorkman said. “The market lacks delivery of this type of hotel.”
The hotel will also have a roof bar with some food options that will be open to the public and a hotel’s guest pool.
In the beginning of 2026, construction will begin in the part of the project apartment, which will include the historic Kimsey building in place. The building was designed by Ralph Haver and built in 1962, it will be reused as an office, fitness center and public space for hours and events.
The apartment will have about 175 units, ranging from one to three bedrooms, said Björkman. The building will have multi -storey urban -style rents along an Indian school road, which will have an individual street entrance.
Bjorkman said the apartments would be “super high class” with luxury touches such as wine refrigerators, granite countertops and options such as cleaning and delivery services to the units.
“We want to bring experience and amenities like a multi -family service type,” he said. “This will take an approach similar to hospitality.”
The construction of the apartment building will also take about two years, he said, so all the construction of the site is expected to be completed in 2028.
