The event has been a city tradition of 1968, according to the organizers. This year, the athlete of the NBA Hall of Fame John Thomas Sally was the grand Marshall.
“It’s an honor for me to participate,” Sale said in a news message. “Every time I can celebrate the life and achievements of blacks, I will do it with pride. This parade is a way to read the visionaries of the past and those who are in the forefront are now advocating for our rights and freedoms today. “
According to the announcement, Sally had a 15-year career in the NBA and became the first player to win four championships with three teams: Detroit Pisantons, Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers.
The event is a “hidden tradition” and the uplifting “Community with its vital energy and cultural importance,” says Carl Dameron, President of the Black Cultural Foundation in the statement.
The parade ended at Arroyo High School, where the Black History Festival was held. Sellers, live entertainment and public groups were part of the San Bernardino Campus Festival.
