San Bernardino County Firefighters Save a Child and Dog from Burning Home – the Internal Empire Community

A young girl with access and functional needs was rescued by a burning home on Monday, February 3, after firefighters of San Bernardino County filled a quick and strategic response to a structural fire on Avenue N. Valencia in San Bernardino.

Fire crews arrived at the scene within six minutes of an emergency call from 11:15, finding a one -storey residence enveloped in strong smoke and flames. Shortly after their arrival, distracted residents informed the firefighters that their daughter was still trapped inside.

Faced with life -threatening emergency, crews rotated from fire suppression to search and rescue operations. The firefighters entered the home, localized the child in a bedroom and passed it safely through a window to expect the staff outside.

It was quickly transported by a paramedic firefighter to a local hospital, where it was mentioned in a serious but steady condition. Firefighters also managed to save the family of the family from home.

“The effectiveness of our response was a direct result of the raised levels of staff in San Bernardino,” the district of San Bernardino County said in a statement. “The presence of four people on all trucks and an additional medical unit allowed for fast and coordinated rescue efforts.”

A total of 30 staff, including seven engines, one truck company, one Medic squad and three main officers, were located at the scene.

Fire officials emphasized the critical role of the closed doors of the bedroom in fire safety, noting that the door in the child’s room helped protect it from flames and smoke, allowing firefighters to reach it on time.

“This incident emphasizes the importance of holding the doors of the bedroom when stopping,” fire department officials said. “The closed door prevented significant burns or injuries to the respiratory tract and gave the crew the time it takes to perform a successful rescue.”

The cause of the fire remains in the process of investigation.
