Salem man charged with burglary and felony retail theft after staying at Farm Fresh Market after closing time – WJBD News – Salem, IL

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a 33-year-old Salem man with both burglary and retail theft after he was allegedly found hiding in a bathroom at the Farm Fresh Market in Salem after closing.

Adam Durham, of West Spruce Street, is believed to have hidden in the store during closing time and after everyone had left, took food from the shelves. Police searched the building after the burglar alarm went off and allegedly found Durham hiding in the bathroom eating some of the food. He also reportedly had a bag of other food taken from the store sitting next to him.

During his first court appearance Thursday afternoon, Durham was released on conditions that include no contact with the Farm Fresh Market. Durham was also arrested on a Marion County failure to appear warrant in connection with another case of retail theft.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 5.
