Roads are still icy on Wednesday but reports they are “better” than after January Blizzard – Wibw

Lawrence, Kan. (WIBW) – Road sails in the area of Topeka and northeast Kansas have been reported to be snowy and slippery in places on Wednesday afternoon.

As a result, motorists were advised to remain cautious while driving, especially in areas that could be smooth, such as overpasses and bridges.

Despite the snowy conditions, Douglas County Sheriff staff said the conditions of driving on Wednesday were still a step away from what residents of the area were experiencing during Blizzard, which happened on the first weekend of January.

And it is also reported that the roads are even better than they were during icy conditions that occurred about a week ago.

Douglas County officials posted a report on the road late Wednesday morning on their Facebook page.

“In general, things seem better than the conditions of the main blizzard in January and the ice conditions last week,” the Facebook post said. “We would still encourage people to be careful, especially today with snowy conditions.

“Many places are closed, so it helps if people can stay home if possible.”

The sheriff’s service said a disaster with an injury took place around 9:50 pm Tuesday on the K-10 highway right east of Iowa Street on the south side of Lawrence.

This catastrophe happened when the icy conditions started, Sheriff said.

“It seems that the vehicle got out of the highway,” the sheriff’s office said in his Facebook post. “The driver and the passenger were taken to a hospital in the area of Topeka with injuries that are not thought to be life -threatening.”

At about 11 o’clock on Wednesday, the Sheriff’s office said the deputies had dealt with five assists of motorists and one crash without injury.

Meanwhile, a number of sliders and clashes continue to be reported on highways in the Topeka area.

No serious injuries to sliders or collisions near Topeka have been reported since the beginning of Wednesday afternoon.
