RJ Reynolds’s 150 -year legacy celebrated with a new historical marker in the city center – WXLV

A new historical marker has been discovered in the center of Winston-Salem, celebrating 150 years by RJ Reynolds tobacco company.

“This anniversary is a major moment to think about the history of our organization, to celebrate our current achievements, and to confirm our focus on creating a future for the next 150 years.” “Not only for Reynolds, but for the entire community here, in Winston-Salem,” said Executive Director David Waterfield.

Founded in 1875 as a small red factory, RJ Reynolds has grown into one of the most recognized businesses in the city and across the country.

Historian Phil Archer says: “The company has contributed millions on a national scale, especially in South and North Carolina, to improve access to medical services, economic mobility, arts and education.”

The historic marker “The Little Red Factory” is the 75th, which will be installed in the area since 2001.

“These historical markers help residents remember and learn about important places, events and people in the collective memory of the Community,” says the great -firing committee of Forsyte David Reynolds. “They are located in the landscapes of our people in history, which should not be forgotten.”

With many generations they have worked for Reynolds, the company expressed its commitment to the future.

“With sustainability and innovation, we will continue to build an organization that will be proud of future generations,” said David Waterfield.
