After breaking the all-time record for the most recent temperature of 90 degrees just last week, Metro Airport did it again Monday. Previously, the most recent date in a calendar year to reach 90 degrees was October 27 — set earlier this year and in 1907.
Since October 26, six (out of a possible ten) record high temperatures have been tied or broken. Record high temperatures will be within a degree or two of the persistent record high on Wednesday and Thursday as well. Record warmest low temperatures will also be challenged by Thursday.
This comes after a remarkably warm October, which ranked as the 5th warmest on record with an average monthly temperature of 74.2 degrees. The hottest October was in 1919 with an average temperature of 78.2 degrees.
