Ricky R. Washington, Jr., 45, from Topeka, was killed in a double shooting on Sunday morning in the central Topeka, police said on Tuesday.
Police have not yet published the name, age or gender of another person who survives after being critically wounded by shooting during double firing.
They had made no arrests.
Where were the victims shot?
Police were summoned around 9am on Sunday to 1200 block of SW Huntoon, where Washington was declared deceased, said Rosie Nichols, a public safety communications specialist for Topeka’s city government.
The other person who was shot was taken to Topeka Hospital, Nichols said.
Washington became the 17th victim of Topeka’s murder this year.
