Mounties in Richmond are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of a pickup truck that allegedly hit a bicyclist and then drove off earlier this month.
Richmond RCMP say that around 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 5, officers encountered a man “who was on the ground screaming.”
“The male told officers he was riding his bicycle southbound on Gilbert Rd crossing the River Rd intersection when he was struck by a white pickup truck,” Mounties said in an update Tuesday.
The bicyclist told officers the truck was making a left turn onto Gilbert Road from River Parkway when it struck him on his bicycle.
“The truck was last seen traveling southbound on Gilbert Rd. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries,” Richmond RCMP said.
“Unfortunately, the cyclist was unable to obtain the registration number of the vehicle and no immediate witnesses were found in the area. Richmond RCMP have scoured the area for surveillance video, but so far nothing has been located.
Mounties are asking anyone who was in the area between 6:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. to review the dashcam footage. They are also asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact police at 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2024-31734.
