Rice, the men of the tribe celebrate a pair of school records in Invite East Coast – William & Mary Athletics

Virginia Beach, Washington – Junior sprint Austin Rice Gather another record weekend at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, marking an individual record in schools in 400 meters, while helping the 4x400m relay team to the best final in the school history at The East Coast Invitational.

The tribe had a litan of excellent individual performers, with seven new top-10 brands and several winners in the event to start.

Friday

Women from W&M saw three accent performances in 60m Prelims. Lauren Jones (7.67) and Melissa Cunningham (7.70) Both have missed personal records, but still managed to get individual top 10 brands into the history of the school. Summer I won a new PR by joining in 7.72 when it moved to a fourth place in the list of all time.

Rice stole the show in the men at 400 meters, winning the event with a record time of 47.69. He had previously set the record at the Invitational Navy in December, defeating his previous PR by 0.53 seconds.

By women’s 400m, Emily Erwin He was the best performer of the tribe in a crowded event with a recent 56.55.

In men at 800 m, Jonathan Cumer Placed first with time 1: 49.14. This personal record moved it second in school history, defeated only by the sign of Anders Christiansen in 1999 (1: 47.19).

In field events, TRIBE POILS VAULTING DUO Elizabeth Strobach and Olesya Sitkovski He finished one and two, respectively in the event. Strobach compiled a personal best vault of 12’10.25 “(3.92 m), which stands as the fourth best in the history of the program. Sitkovski escaped to 12’8.25” (3.87 m) to finish the runner-up.

Melk added another top 10, this time to the long jump, with his jump of 18’8.25 “(5.70 m), which is ranked sixth before.

Saturday

Running in the preliminary obstacles of women at 60m, Catriel Amomoou Posted time 9.07. That was good enough for another top 10, ranked sixth.

At 200m, Kenningham won its heat and ranked 15th in a racing field with a time of 24.86.

The 4x400m men’s relay team was the high point of the day as Rice united with Jacob Robinson., David Wachfordand Charlie Bestic to end in 3: 13.23 for a school record. The previous indoor record was from 2019 and was defeated by 1/100 of a second.

The tribe returns to Lynchburg, Washington, for Darius Dixon’s memorial invitation next Friday, February 14th. Liberty celebrations will start at 1:00 pm, with selected events broadcast on ESPN+.
