GILBERT, Arizona (AZ Family) — Authorities have increased the reward for information leading to an arrest in the case of an East Valley teenager who was shot and killed in his apartment while he slept.
It’s been more than two years since 19-year-old Rachel Hansen was shot and killed in her Gilbert apartment.
Silent Witness has now increased the reward offered from $10,000 to $15,000.
Gilbert police said Hansen was sleeping in her apartment near San Tan Village Parkway and Ray Road on June 4, 2022, when she was shot around 2 a.m.
Her mother said she believes her daughter was targeted or shot by a person who lived in the apartment.
Body camera video and a 911 transcript also reveal that Hansen called 911 and said someone had broken in and shot her just before her death.
She was rushed to the hospital, where she was operated on for hours, but later died.
The Hansen family set up a GoFundMe page so they could hire a private investigator.
