Return of Santa Ana winds bring increased fire risk to SoCal – ABC7 Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Santa Ana winds are intensifying in Southern California, leading to increased fire risk over the next few days.

The current red flag warning will expire on Monday night and Election Day should be relatively calm – but winds will return on Wednesday.

A new red flag warning is expected to be issued from around 7 a.m. Wednesday until noon Thursday. High wind watches will be in effect for parts of the Inland Empire and more severe high wind warnings will be issued for the I-5 corridor and parts of Ventura County where winds could reach 60-80 mph.

Los Angeles and Orange counties will be sunny and breezy on Tuesday with a high of 74 degrees. Winds return on Wednesday.

The Valleys and Inland Empire on Tuesday will reach a high of 75. Wednesday will be breezy with canyon winds above 25 mph.

Beaches will be sunny and balmy with a high of 67 on Tuesday.

It will be cooler in the mountains, with a high of 61 degrees, falling to 19 degrees overnight. Daytime highs will drop into the low 40s starting Wednesday.

Desert areas will see a high of 74. Winds will reach 25-40 mph on Wednesday.
