Residents tired of disruption from after-hours club on Greenwell Springs Road near Platt Drive – WAFB

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Police in Baton Rouge are investigating a shooting with multiple victims on Greenwell Springs Road near Platt Drive at what residents told us was an after-hours club.

We’re told the gunshot was received shortly before 4 a.m. on Sunday, October 20.

Baton Rouge Police Department officials initially said they could not say exactly how many were injured in the shooting or the nature of the victim’s injuries.

WAFB was able to confirm Sunday evening that one person has died.

One resident says the violence is out of place and has driven some from the area.

“We also use this app called Nextdoor, and there are a lot of people in this area that complain about it,” said Melvin Norman, a resident who lives near the scene of the shooting.

“Actually, several people who stay on Platt have moved because they always park there, play their music loud, stand there, drink and throw their trash everywhere. This has been going on for about two months now. Two or three months.”

We spoke to several other residents of the nearby area who wished to remain anonymous. Several of them familiar with the situation confirmed that neighbors are becoming annoyed by the late-night music, screeching tires and other disturbances they say take place at the club after hours.

WAFB is still awaiting more information about the shooting, such as the condition of all victims, as well as a motive. We’ll have an update when we learn more.
