Republicans want to bring Dog in South Carolina – Live 5 News WCSC

Columbia, SC (WCSC) – Leaders at South Carolina State House are trying to bring Washington, Colombia County – or at least part of it.

One of the hallmarks in the first weeks of the Second Trump Administration is the creation of the controversial Ministry of Government Efficiency of Elon Musk or Dog.

Now Republicans at the State House want to create a doj in South Carolina.

“We don’t have Elon Musk in South Carolina, but it will be similar to what is happening in Washington,” said majority leader Davy Hyot, RR-Pickens.

Close identical resolutions submitted to the House of Representatives and the Senate will set up a new governmental effectiveness committee that supporters claim will seek fraud, waste and abuse.

It will be drawn up of nine members of the vote, such as the governor, the chairman of the Senate and the chairman of the Chamber, each of whom appointed three appointments until the chairman without the right to be elected by the Ministry of Administration.

None of the members could sit on state legislators.

The leading sponsor of the Senate resolution, Republican Stephen Goldfinch of Georgetown County, said it plans to be leaders in the South Carolina industry.

“I don’t think we will do a lot of hay when it comes to reducing hundreds of millions or billions of our budget,” Goldfinch said. “I think we will find over -proposing provisions that will save the state industries to millions or hundreds of millions of dollars.”

In the end, the Commission will issue a legislature report that will have the final word whether to comply with any of its recommendations.

The existing bodies perform a similar function in South Carolina, composed of legislators and civil servants, including legislative supervisory committees in the two chambers of the General Assembly and the Legislative Audit Council.

Governor Henry McMaster told reporters on Thursday that he believes that creating another entity made up of government outsiders is a useful idea.

“We probably need a mix: someone who knows their path around the agencies and has heard of them and their functions, but you also need people who can look at it with fresh eyes. This is always very important and this, of course, does President Trump, “McMaster said.

But some Democrats have said that while supporting the government’s improved efficiency, they believe it is a political cascade of Republicans.

“If we really have all these ineffectiveness we worry about, it seems that after 22 years they control that they could already identify and eradicate these ineffectiveness,” reporter Roger Kirby, D – Florence, said.

This idea is still in the early phases of the legislative process.

But with the twin resolutions submitted to the Chamber and the Senate, supported by some of the most powerful legislators in the year.
