Reno, Sparks Police Launch Program to increase safety by accessing the Community Camera – KRNV

Renault and Sparks police departments have announced a new initiative, an Arctic program aimed at enhancing public safety through community partnerships and existing monitoring technology. The program will allow law enforcement authorities to have access to live monitoring staff from local companies and residents with their permission to improve emergency reactions.

“Our success relies on partnerships with our community, business and citizens,” said Renault Catherine Nans police chief. “Technology will allow law enforcement with the permission of the Community to have access to existing monitoring cameras, improving our monitoring network and public safety reactions.”

Residents and businesses can choose which cameras to have access to law enforcement, which allows real -time reactions to daily conversations about service and natural disasters such as floods and fires. The initiative is expected to lead to more efficient use of state resources.

SPARKS Deputy Forest Tara Edmundson emphasized the importance of community involvement, saying: “We are often asked how the community can support us. Reporting suspicious activity and participation in programs such as a camera registration system or neighborhood clock can create a more festive environment. “

The Arctic program also aims to improve interdepartmental coordination, transparency and confidence in law enforcement operations. It will facilitate the cooperation between law enforcement, fire services, EMS and other agencies, providing real -time situational awareness and intelligence.

For those interested in participating or contributing to the program, contact Captain Bond or Deputy Edmondson for more information.
