Renault, Sparks and employees of Washo County Agree to form regional fire operations – Koli

Reno, Nev. (Kolo) – Reno, Sparks and employees of Washoe County are moving forward with the consolidation of local fire agencies and emergency services.

“That’s where we are currently with these fires. This is frightening, beyond the frightening. I get my own PTSR when we push things or move at the speed of the government, “said Renault Hillary Sheve Mayor. “People are sick of this, they no longer want to see this.”

The aim is to improve the regional deadlines of fire response, to give priority to public safety over jurisdictions and to strengthen mutual assistance operations.

“The focus will be to develop the answers they are looking for,” said Truckee Meadows Dale Way’s temporary main firefighter. “What are the effectiveness we can win now and how we can focus on future consolidation potentially.”

“Meanwhile, without doing so, we can work together between jurisdictions in the form of border drops, automatic assistance,” said Renault David Co- Fire Department.

Currently, each jurisdiction uses a different system for sending and communication. Which must be consolidated to provide the most efficient resources and unlimited answers.

“People are not interested in what the writing is on the side of the fire machine,” added Chief Cochi. “They want the resource. They want the help and help they need. ”

This regional concept was tried by Truckee Meadows and Reno before, but in 2012.

“Consolidation is obviously a much bigger picture and much more difficult and would include funding and a potential increase in taxes to get there,” said temporary chief Dale Way.

The main improvements to computer software to send come within the next few months. This will combine all systems for sending and communicating the first respondent.

“In September, we will all be together in a shared sending system so that we can see where any other resource is. The gap we need to overcome achieves an agreement in which we know where resources are. Any jurisdiction can benefit from any other jurisdiction to use the nearby resources, “said the Chief Croxus.

Community leaders and fire agencies will still discuss funding, policies and possible tax increases.
