A perennial probe in a violent Reno-Aarea band has led to over 50 arrests and the seizure of firearms, drugs and money, with police calling it dismantled.
The Regional Band of the Department and the Special North Nevada Group for Safe Streets began the investigation in 2022, focusing on a local gang known as “KO” or “Knockout”, said Renault police.
Authorities say the gang was responsible for a wave of violence in Renault, Sparks and Washo County, including numerous murders and shootings over the last five years.
The dozens of arrests committed in the investigation have led to numerous convictions, including murder, attempted murder, weapons crimes, human trafficking, drug trafficking and other crimes. Some related cases remain hanging, police said.
The investigation seized 30 firearms, several pounds of drugs and over $ 10,000 in cash, RPD said.
RPD said the multi -agent operation was the first of its kind and size in the history of Washoe County.
“The bigger part of its members have been removed from the community and are now serving significant sentences in prison,” the authorities said.
