Renault police officers responded to a battery report, finding an 18-year-old victim severely beaten and bleeding with multiple injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he needs a respiratory tube and was diagnosed with two brain bleeding, leaving it in a critical condition. He stayed in a coma for several months and doctors advised that he would suffer cognitive disabilities for life.
The investigation revealed that the victim, a resident of Eddie, was directed by Stokes and Krigbaum in a previous attack attempt. Two weeks after the initial dispute, Stoks contacted the victim, offering to take care of his dog, which made the victim believe they had reconciled. However, video surveillance of December 19 showed Stoks and Krigbaum, who lurk the victim before being attacked at Brick Park, where they tried to stab him.
Stokes were detained by police 10 days after the attack, while Krigbaum was arrested later after a secret witness advice indicated that he was trying to escape from Nevada.
