Renault and Cerence Partner to Bring Generative AI to Reno, Renault Connected Avatar – The Manila Times

BURLINGTON, Mass., Oct. 30, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Cerence Inc. (NASDAQ: CRNC), AI for a world in motion, today announced its expanded partnership with Renault to deliver generative, AI-powered capabilities and human-like interaction with the automaker’s next-generation, multimodal in-car companion, Reno.

Reno, the official avatar of Renault, is an intelligent, useful and lovable in-car companion that provides customers with a more intuitive and fun driving experience. Extending the multi-year partnership between Renault and Cerence to bring Reno to life with humanized, voice-based interaction, Renault will now use the generative AI-powered Cerence Chat Pro to enhance Reno’s capabilities and take Reno’s intelligence to a whole new level. Cerence Chat Pro, a uniquely intelligent integration of a large automotive-grade language model, will allow Renault customers to engage Reno in a fun and conversational chat using multiple sources, including ChatGPT, to provide accurate and relevant responses to almost any query imaginary. Interaction with Reno will be further enhanced by Cerence’s neural text-to-speech, which allows Reno to convey different emotions in its responses to drivers, including fear, joy, sympathy, sad and serious.

At the heart of Reno’s new, generative, AI-powered capabilities is a deeply integrated, voice-activated experience based on Cerence Assistant. In addition to voice control of the car’s key features and functions, Reno uses the car’s data and sensors to proactively suggest ways to improve driving efficiency, such as changing the driving mode to maximize range or turning on the defroster on the windshield at a certain time. Reno can also answer the most frequently asked car questions, providing reliable and accurate information directly from Renault sources powered by Cerence Car Knowledge.
