In recent years, a series of businesses have moved from the shores to Texas as the state is courting companies with its low taxes and limited regulation. Elon Musk moved the car manufacturer Tesla Inc. and the social media platform X in the Austin area, while Chevron Corp. and Charles Schwab Corp. parted for Houston and Westlake respectively.

Texas also created new business courts to deal with corporate disputes, a move that caught the attention of leaders, including Bill Akman and Mark Zuckerberg.

Damian Ales, CEO of Realtor.com, said the growing talent pool in Texas, the low cost of life and the expansion of the housing stock are part of its appeal.

The company has about 60,000 square feet (5570 square meters) space in the Austin building, a cross -laminated timber project on the modern eastern side of the city. Realtor.com left its office in Santa Clara and employees of this location are now working remotely.

Austin has developed millions of square meters of new offices in recent years, causing an empty space. The vacancy degree in the metro area was nearly 30% at the end of the year, according to Cushman & Wakefield.
