Quick-thinking teen foils suspected sex offender’s plans to lure her, police say – KXII

GLENDALE, Arizona. (KPHO/Gray News) – Police in Arizona say a 14-year-old’s quick thinking stopped the plans of an alleged child predator.

Glendale police said the girl was walking home from school when Isaiah Navarro, 37, allegedly approached her in a red car and tried to talk to her.

She knew she shouldn’t talk to strangers or get into their cars.

Navarro then asked the girl for her phone number, so she put her mother’s phone number in his phone, KPHO reported.

She then got away safely.

Investigators said Navarro then called the number, thinking it would be the girl, but the mother picked up.

She later called police and detectives continued the conversation, which became more graphic as he described and asked about specific sexual acts, regardless of the victim’s age.

Navarro repeatedly asked to meet, calling up to 30 times, so detectives picked a place and time.

When Navarro showed up, he was arrested.

Navarro was booked into jail on charges of soliciting a minor for sexual exploitation and attempting to engage in sexual conduct with a minor.

His bond was set at $250,000.

Police said any other victims are encouraged to call the department at (623) 930-3000.
