Public comment period to put a sexual predator in Julian begins Monday – CBS News 8

The state plans to put a condemned predator Gary Snieli at a home in Julian.

Julian, California – a convicted sexual predator who performed careless and lazy action with a child under 14 in the 1980s, will be placed in a residence in Julian, with public comments adopted between Monday and February 16.

The California Department of the State Hospital recommended the placement of Gary Snavely on 3452 Wynoia Road on a conditional release order from the San Diego High Court, according to San Diego County Sheriff.

Public comments will be included in the official response of the court and the Ministry of State Hospitals in a hearing scheduled for March 7.

“The San Diego County Sheriff’s Service, the District Prosecutor’s Office and the Special Crime Group (Sexual Attachment) are not responsible for the choice of this place,” the sheriff said. “The selection process is the responsibility of the Ministry of State Hospitals.”

The San Diego Supreme Court then decided to approve the election by the Ministry of State Hospitals, according to Sheriff’s staff.
