Salt Lake City – For Elizabeth Nelson, 11 minutes is at the heart of her life.
“This is a personal story for me,” she said. “My mother was eleven minutes before … She was driving and was eleven minutes before she reached the abortion clinic.”
This abortion clinic would be Nelson’s end.
However, her mother did not reach the clinic.
“Her car fell apart and she accepted this as a sign and she was, ‘What am I doing? “And that shocked her back to life. And now I’m here, ”Nelson said.
Therefore, however cold it was, she wanted to attend this rally in the Capitol building on Utah on Saturday morning.
It was organized by Pro-Life Utah.
“We will fight,” said one of the speakers of the rally of a cheerful crowd.
The group says it supports the protection of unborn babies and their mothers, striving to make abortions illegal.
They also wanted to pay attention to the number of abortions that occurred in the state, since the Third District Court blocks a jute law, banning abortions, except in certain circumstances.
“More than 4,000 babies were interrupted in 2023 in Utah. 8,000 babies were aborted as our trigger abortion law took place in 2022, “said Mary Taylor, President of Pro-Life Utah. “So what we want to go out is that we all have to stand up and protect the unborn.”
Some supporters of the choice also appeared at the rally, holding signs to make sure their side of the problem was heard.
“Keep your business in mind. My body, my choice, “said a supporter of pro-Life’s pro-Life crowd.
Those of the rally eventually walked around the block around the Capitol building.
“I’m very impressed. Many people come out, “said Samara Casun, one of the people supporting the rally.
Police provided an escort to keep everyone safe.
In the meantime, Nelson, whose mother put her for adoption, feels that she knows what the safe really means.
“I want to be an example because my life is great and that’s because my mother has chosen life and it’s important to get this message,” Nelson said.
Those who are pro-life said they would continue to fight for what they believe.
Those on the other side, pro-election, said they would do the same too.
