Prime Minister accused of “heartbreaking” lack of concern for IRA victims – Irvine Times

The victims of a number of IRA atrocities have expressed a “severe disappointment” with Sir Kiir Starmer during a commemorative event on the 29th anniversary of the bombing in London Doklands, according to the group.

Two people were killed and 42 others were injured in an explosion of Ira Bomb in London Doclands on February 9, 1996.

Former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi armed IRA with the powerful plastic explosive SEMTEX used in cruelty and other incidents, including the Hardodi attack in 1983, the 1993 bombing in 1993.

Victims want current Libyan authorities to pay compensation, but given the likelihood of this happening in the short term, they called on the government to use the billions of pounds related to the Downloaded Gaddafi regime, which were frozen in the United Kingdom in 2011 .

The 2021 report on the state support for the victims of the United Kingdom in IRA attacks that used weapons delivered by Gaddafi, composed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, remain confidential.

The Docklands Victims (DVA) Association said Sir Keyer had assured the victims in writing that he would support their campaign to secure Libya benefit while in opposition.

He sent a letter of October 20, 2020, assuring the victims and their families for his support.

He said that the work was pursuing why the report was not published and said that the government should report its findings to the public.

He described the work to find compensation as “vital”.

When he became Prime Minister, DVA and other victims tried to contact him to honor this commitment.

The group, however, said it failed to answer their letters.

DVA said, “Unfortunately, the Prime Minister did not respond to any of the victim’s letters from DVA members.”

He added, “This is heartbreaking as it seems to have ignored our letters.”

“During today’s Memorial Service, the victims and their families put floral tribute to the poster in honor of the killed and left seriously injured in these horrific attacks in London Dokleni.

“However, due to the lack of correspondence by our Prime Minister Sir Keyer Starmer, the victims and their families felt sad and forgotten, as he did not seem to be willing to respond to the victims and their families.

“The obvious lack of concern and recognition of the Prime Minister to the victims of terrorism is heartbreaking.”

Jonathan Ganesh, a victim of London Doklands and President of the DVA, said: “Nearly three decades have passed, but I am still persecuted by the death of my friends.

“The scars all over my body caused by shrapnel are a constant reminder.

“However, I think it is essential not to forget those victims who have been killed and left severely disabled due to the contemptuous action of terrorism.

“I felt very sad that the Prime Minister did not respond to my two letters and did not fulfill his previous promises as he opposed the support of the victims and their families.”

Susana Dodd, the daughter of Metel Police Inspector Stephen Dodd, who was killed in the Harodi bombing, said: “Our Prime Minister has disposed of my brave dad and those who were affected by terrorism in the United Kingdom.”
