Pope accepts the resignation of Archbishop of Cincinnati, Bishop of Siu City, Iowa – Angelus News

Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Archbishop Dennis M. Snur, 76, from the Pastorian Department of Archdiocese in Cincinnati and appointed Bishop Robert G. Casey of Chicago as his successor.

The Pope also accepted the resignation of Bishop R. Walker Nichols, 77, from the Pastor’s Diocese of City Siu, Iowa, and appointed Father John E. Kiner, a junior pastor of four parishes to inherit him.

The Pope also called MSGR. Richard F. Raidi, General Vicar and Currey Moderator of the Diocese of Wachester, Massachusetts, to head the Diocese of Norich, Connecticut. Bishop-Desanite Radi inherits Bishop Michael R. Kot, who retired on September 3, 2024.

The three resignations and appointments were published in Washington on February 12 by Cardinal Christoph Pierre, Apostolic Nunzio in the United States.

The Archbishop of Kord, the 10th Archbishop of Cincinnati, is one year after the era on which the bishops are required by Canon Law to resign to the Pope. He has been a shepherd of Cincinnati since December 2009. He has been declared Archbishop of Coadutor in 2008 and the following year inherited Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarchik when he retired.

The 57 -year -old Archbishop Casey has been an assistant in Chicago from 2018. A native of Illinois, he was ordained the priesthood for the Archbishopia in Chicago in 1994.
